New Jersey Child Safety Seat Law:

 

 

 

Step 1:   Rear Facing Child Seats for children from birth to a least 20 pounds and at least one year of age.

Step 2:   Forward Facing Child Seats for children over 20 pounds and at least one year old to about 40 pounds and about age 4.

Step 3:   Belt-Positioning Booster Seats for children from about 40 pounds to about 80 pounds and 4'9".

Step 4:   Seat Belts for older children large enough for the belt to fit correctly; at least 4'9" tall, and about 80 pounds.

Woodcliff Lake Police Child Passenger Safety Technicians

The Woodcliff Lake Police Department currently has six Child Passenger Safety Technicians available to conduct safety inspections on child safety seats.  They will be able and available (by appointment) to consult with parents and any other persons who have safety seat questions, concerns, or problems.  Please contact department secretary Nancy Flower at  201-391-8222 for an appointment.
